Impact Story: A working mom juggling care for her kids and elderly mother

“That day was a big day for me. I’ll never forget it. It’s like you’re about to drown and then someone came out to save you.”

Pam needed to take an unpaid leave of absence to help care for her elderly mother who was having surgery. Juggling her mom’s medical expenses, taking care of her kids, and furthering her own education, Pam had a lot on her plate.

When her hours were unexpectedly reduced after returning from her leave, she felt overwhelmed and out of options. An email about the Grant Circle showed up just in time.

After applying for and receiving a grant, Pam was able to pay her mortgage and for her mother’s medication. She says receiving the grant felt like being saved from drowning. Pam looks forward to donating to the Grant Circle as an expression of her gratitude and to support her colleagues during life’s unexpected challenges.
