The Cloudsplitter Foundation and Canary Come Together to Help Adirondacks Communities Weather Financial Challenges

The Cloudsplitter Foundation and Canary are thrilled to announce our partnership to launch an employee relief fund to support the financial wellbeing of approximately 200 home health care workers at North Country Home Services (NCHS). As The Cloudsplitter Foundation focuses on improving the environment, economy and lives of the residents of the Adirondacks, providing an emergency relief fund for their dedicated employees seemed like a natural offering. Their guiding philosophy to use philanthropy to create recurring good made it an easy decision to create the Cloudsplitter Grant Circle, powered by Canary, to support the unexpected financial hardships their employees might face.

“Supporting home health care workers in the Adirondacks when they experience financial hardship is a priority for Cloudsplitter. Our Grant Circle has empowered people in our community to access emergency funds in a time of need, quickly and efficiently, thanks to our partnership with the Canary team,” stated Chenelle Palyswiat, Director, The Cloudsplitter Foundation.

The focus on funds for workers at NCHS is a critical one. It recognizes the ongoing financial difficulties that home health care workers in their community face on a daily basis, many exacerbated by COVID-19. As Rebecca Leahy, RN, CEO & Founder at NCHS shared, “Offering access to financial relief to our workers just makes sense. They selflessly offer home health care services that allow aging clients to live independently, at home, even in the face of physical hardships. It’s our responsibility to return the favor and be there for our employees in the face of financial stressors and adversity.”

Canary’s recent Impact Report reveals that a majority of grantees need help with basic needs like purchasing food or making mortgage or rent payments. Among those with non-COVID related hardships, the top request for assistance was medical-related, with utilities, housing, and food showing up in about a quarter of grant requests.

“We have been able to track the meaningful impact it has had on people in our community and look forward to continuing our partnership with Canary to show our employees how much we care about them,” shared Palyswiat.

In partnering with Canary, The Cloudsplitter Foundation has been able to work with their community to help alleviate these unexpected expenses and stresses that come with them.
